Sorrento

Our day started off well with a lesson in making gelato by Mario Gargiulo, owner of Gelateria David. Mario is a third generation ice cream/gelato maker.

Yum!

This is the "beach" in Sorrento.

This is just a random photo I took while wandering through town.

We passed a beautiful covered entryway to what I think is the Inlaid Wood Museum.

This is the wall to the left of the front door.

We also visited the famous Sorrento Lemon Grove. Sorrento lemons are unlike the typical lemons you'll find in American grocery stores. Sorrento lemons are large, slightly sweet and the key ingredient in limoncello, a popular Sorrento liqueur. In the center of town, a city block is filled with lemon and other citrus trees. As you walk through, you can smell the fragrant blossoms and dangling fruit. In the heart of the grove is a small limoncello sampling stand where you can try a variety of citrus liqueurs for free.
