Amalfi Town

We took a boat from Positano to Amalfi Town to wander around for a few hours.

First we went up to the old cemetery because it has a beautiful view of Amalfi. It is the large building above the town on the right in the photo above.

Next we visited St Andrew's Cathedral.

We arrived while a wedding was in progress.

We came back later to see more of the cathedral.

This is, of course, St Andrew.

This is the beautiful cloister, called The Paradise Cloister, with a view of the bell tower.

The cathedral had a small collection of interesting bits.

These are reliquaries, repositories for relics.

And beneath the cathedral is an incredible crypt.

After the cathedral visit we walked up to the top of the town to see the Museum of Paper (Making). Along the way we passed this cute little outdoor sculpture.

The Paper Museum was very interesting and the guide turned on some of the machines for us. The Museum was not very photogenic, however this press was an exception.
