Koblenz, Germany

Today was a free day to explore Koblenz. There was a big festival going on and every plaza/square had stands selling food, wine or beer plus craft venders and live music. And the music in each square was different. One had rock & roll, one had dancers and gymnasts, one had an Oompah band and one was set up as a medieval village fair.

Sausages were cooked in large quantities.

One square had a great fountain.

Koblenz is where the Rhine and Mosel Rivers meet. There is a huge monument to Kaiser Wilhelm I which you can climb up into for a view of the rivers.

And, of course, there are churches. This is the Liebfrauen church.

And this is the St Kastor Basilica.

Tomorrow (Monday) the party is over and we head back home.

Schwalmstadt, Germany

Today we drove from Kassel to Koblenz with a stop in Schwalmstadt to visit the museum there. It was yet another cute town. These are a couple of restaurants near the museum.

And this is the museum. That's a Glockenspiel on the middle wall.

And, of course, we saw even more lovely Schwalm embroidery.

Schwalm Whitework, Germany

We saw some awesome Schwalm Whitework today. Most of the work was designed and stitched by Luzine Happel in Eschwege, Germany.

Meissen & Dresden, Germany

The town of Meissen is an interesting place. We saw the Meissen Dom (cathedral).

And the Albrechtsburg castle.

The town was pretty neat too.

We then had some time to see a bit more of Dresden. We visited the Dresden Frauenkirche (Church of Our Lady).

And saw more beautiful buildings.
