Naples

Today is a collection of photos of various places around Naples.

First is Castel Nuovo down near the water.

The next photo is of two sides of the arch at the front of the castel.

Then there is Castel Sant' Elmo which is located on the hill of Vomero with great views of the city (unfortunately it was a rather hazy day).

That is Mt Vesuvius in the distance.

On the way back to the hotel we walked through the market area.

And an area which sold all kinds of crazy little houses supposedly for nativity scenes.

This is the Galleria Umberto, a shopping arcade built between 1887 and 1890. It will really be amazing when the restoration work is finished.

We found this statue on a small side street. It is of Pulcinella - the mascot of Naples.

And this sign was tacked up on the wall of a restaurant where we had dinner.
