Gruyère

Today we visited a local Gruyère cheese producer. It was a small farm with 40 cows and 7 sheep that produce the milk for the cheese.

As we arrived we were greeted with an Alpenhorn concert.

The milk is cooked in a large copper kettle over a wood fire.

Then aged on wood planks.

Afterward we drove to the small town of Gruyère.

A famous resident was H.R. Giger who is known for designing the critters in the movies Alien and Aliens. There is a museum and bar that feature his designs.
