Bristol

Day 1 of Mary Hickmott's Sampler Tour of England. We started off visiting Muller House, a museum for the Muller Orphanages at Ashley Down which were opened in Bristol in the 19th century. Beautiful samplers were produced here by 14 to 17 year old orphan girls. Some of the samplers were stitched on fabric so fine it has 70 threads per inch!

The museum also had this wonderful stained glass window.

The hotel we are staying in, the Tortworth Court Four Pillars Hotel in Wotton-under-Edge, is amazing. Here are a few photos. There will be more to come.
