Tewkesbury

Our driver needed a day off today so we had free time in Tewkesbury. We are staying at the Tewkesbury Park Hotel which has a golf course so we are surrounded by green.

And we were rather surprised by what we found on our bed when we got to our room: a hot water bottle in a lovely knitted cozy!

The tall tower in the distance in the second photo above is the Tewkesbury Abbey, the first stop on our walk into town. The Abbey was built in 1121 so it will be celebrating 900 years four years from now.

This little fellow is a corbel for the vaulted ceiling.

And these guys were just sticking out of a wall waaaaay up high.

Tewkesbury has a number of old buildings.

It is also known for its historic alleyways.

My favorite find of the day was this adorable door knocker.
