Nîmes

Nimes was a regional capital of the Roman Empire and home to 50,000–60,000 people. Several famous monuments are in Nîmes, such as the Nîmes Arena, a Roman amphitheater built around 70 AD ....

.... and the Maison Carrée (French for "square house" although the structure is rectangular), a Roman temple built around 2 AD.

This was a long decorative carving at the top of a church. There is a lot going on here.

This is a clock on a government building. The little boy actually strikes the bell on the hour.

We also visited the wonderful indoor market. I wish this was near where I lived.
