Our first day on the river cruise was spent in Lyon.
There was a market set up along the river.
The old town ....
The Traboules .... traboules are basically shortcuts between streets which ran parallel to the river, they allowed access to water and provided shelter from inclement weather.
A courtyard of a traboule .... the tower contains a circular staircase which took up less space than a conventional staircase.
This is La Basilique Notre Dame de Fourvière which is located on top of the hill overlooking the city.
This is the Cathédrale Saint Jean Baptiste with the Basilica in the background on the hill.
