Our day started off at a working sheep farm watching a sheep dog demonstration.
Then it was off to Loch Ness for a visit to Urquhart Castle. The weather was typical Scottish style. Loch Ness, a fresh water lake, is 51 feet (16 metres) higher than sea level, 23 miles long and 1 mile wide. It is the second largest lake by surface area and has a greater volume of water than any other British lake. The deepest point is over 750 ft (230 m). Urquhart Castle dates from the 13th to the 16th centuries.
The castle had an unusual structure we hadn't seen before: a Doocote (aka a Dovecote).
