Bergen, Norway

Today was spent in Bergen.  We first visited the Bergenhus Fortress which contains buildings dating as far back as  the 1240s.  The royal hall, today known as Haakon's Hall, was built around 1260.

We then headed to the open-air Gamle (Old) Bergen Museum, a collection of houses with their furniture that have been moved to this site and are mainly from the period 1700-1900.

We then visited Bryggen where the first buildings in Bergen were situated.  These buildings are on the old Hanseatic wharf.

St John's Church, built in the 1890s was just down the street from our hotel.
