Beaune

We wandered around the weekly market first thing this morning. There was a lot of interesting stuff.

Dried fruits ...

Shallots and garlic ...

Sausages ...

Olives ...

Oysters ...

Nougat ...

And flowers.

Then we went to a castle with a vineyard and winery for a wine tasting.

The lawn was full of miniature cyclamen.

The medieval kitchen was quite impressive.

We also had time for a brief walk around town. This is the Collégiale Notre-Dame, built in the 12th and 13th centuries, during the transition from Romanesque to Gothic architecture.

The clock tower.

And this is a hotel/restaurant with an unusual entrance. You have to really duck to get in.

But the inside is just gorgeous.

This is the courtyard of the hotel we are staying in.
