Wildlife in the Garden

 This gorgeous fellow is a frequent visitor to our friends' garden here in the UK.



It is a Reeves Pheasant and is endemic to China. It is named after the British naturalist John Reeves, who first introduced live specimens to Europe in 1831.   In addition to its striking colors, a male Reeves's Pheasant holds the current Guinness Book World Record for having the longest tail - some reach over six feet in length.  This fellow hasn't grow his giant tail yet so here is a photo from gamebirdfowl.com:
