Rochester & Maidstone

Our first stop today was the town of Rochester and the Guildhall Museum there.

I love their weathervane!

There were a few samplers.

And some amazing items made by prisoners of war such as these boxes made of straw and this model made of bone.

We also visited the castle and the cathedral.

Next was the Maidstone museum. As usual, the display conditions for the needlework were pretty terrible.

One version of Eve had quite an impressive reach!

But by far the most amazing items in the collection were this 17th century pea pod jacket.

And this 17th century beaded basket.
