Cascade Loop Scenic Highway

On a whim I decided I wanted to drive the Cascade Loop Scenic Highway so Larry, my mother, and I headed out for a two day road trip. The route is 440 miles long and includes forests, orchards, mountain peaks, rivers, lakes, and desert.

We drove the loop anti-clockwise heading out from Everett toward Chelan on US highway 2 to the south, spent the night in Chelan, and returned on US highway 20 to the north.

Our first stop was Deception Falls.

This is the view downstream from the falls.

We spent the night in Chelan on Lake Chelan. Mom admired the view.

Lots of ducks liked it too!

The surrounding area doesn't get much rainfall.

From Chelan we headed up into the Cascade Mountains where the scenery was just a bit different!

This is Ross Lake.

There were waterfalls all along the highway. This is Gorge Creek Falls.

I don't know what this one is named but it sure was pretty!

We didn't finish the entire loop. It got too late to do the Whidbey Scenic Isle segment but I hope we will soon!

  1. Spectacular scenery! Mom sounded so thrilled about the trip too. She just raved about everything. I think she was happy to get out and see some natural beauty. Thanks for sending me a note about your trip. Can't wait to see photos from the next one, which is, by the way, when? KT

  2. Stunning photos, as always. Having lived alongside the Cascades in McCloud, and visited the surrounding area, I would say you've captured some its uniqueness quite admirably.
