We arrived in Padua last night around 7 pm. This is the view from our room on the fourth floor of the hotel. The elevator only goes as high as the third floor so access to the fourth floor is by the stairs.
We spent the day today wandering around Padua. First we visited the beautiful open air fruit and vegetable market.
They also sold herbs and every kind of grain.
Then we went to the indoor market which sold meats, cheeses and pastas.
The indoor market is on the first floor of a beautiful old palazzo and has been a market for 800 years.
We had lunch in a beautiful square with a great old clock.
Then we visited St Anthony's Basilica which is the one we can see from our room.
No photography was allowed inside so here are some pictures from postcards.
